Information and registration for Croquet By the Bay 2010
Its that time of year again and the Middle Peninsula Croquet Club is busy preparing for its annual doubles tournament. This year the dates will be Wednesday, October 6th thru Saturday, October 9th.
The tournament will have a teams combined handicap no lower than 10 with no single players handicap below a 5. For example, a team with a players handicap at 6 and one player at 7, would combine to be a 13, so this would qualify. A 4 handicap playing with a 6 handicap would equal a 10 but the 4 handicap is below a 5, so he/she doesn't qualify. The tournament will be flighted and will allow you to compete at a challenging level.
The cost for this years tournament will be $100 per person or $200 per team. Social guests will be $50. Please make your checks to MPCC and mail them to John F. Lee 7253 Botetourt Avenue, Gloucester, Va. 23061.
Wednesday, October 6 is practice and arrival day with the courts available at 1 o'clock. That evening there will be an opening registration cocktail party at the Richardson's home at 5:30. You will receive your schedule and court information at this event so please make sure you attend. Lunch and waters will be provided at the courts each day and dinner will be provided on Friday evening. If you have any special dietary concerns please provide for yourself as necessary. Directions to Richardson's Home "Northpoint" From Rt.17 North or South bound Gloucester, Va. 23061 take business 17 and turn onto Rt.14 East. Follow for 8.4 miles. Turn right on Rt. 614 "Chapel Neck Road", follow .6 tenths of a mile. Turn right on Elm Grove Road (gravel) look for Elm Grove Farm sign. Follow lane for 1 mile. Take sharp right turn only right turn on lane. Follow around next curve and come to driveway marked #1054 Northpoint. The house is two story brick home.
